Personal —  Dennis Jacobs was born in 1944.  He began service for the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit in 1992, appointed by President George H.W. Bush.

 

Private Practice — Prior to assuming the bench, Judge Jacobs was a Partner with Simpson, Thacher & Bartlett in New York, NY from 1980 to 1992.  He was an Associate with the same firm from 1973 to 1980.

 

Academic — Judge Jacobs was a Lecturer at Queens College from 1967 to 1969.

 

Education —  He received his JD from New York University School of Law in 1973 and a MA from New York University in 1965.  He graduated from Queens College of the City University of New York with a BA in 1964. 

 

Memberships — Judge Jacobs is a member of the:  Association of the Bar of the City of New York; Federalist Society; Committee on Judicial Resources of the Judicial Conference of the United States.
